He carried out research during his Masters studies on design and materials selection and studied the relations of selection methods within the design process. He analysed the current digital tools for materials selection and how they work. Questions regarding the framing of the evolution of materials selection and its connection to the history of design also deserved special attention.
Later he has built an information platform, materialized through a spreadsheet with many information about software and databases for material selection, a very complete study. These digital tools (databases and software) were meticulously analysed.
Since 2007, he has been undertaking efforts to research about a new methodology for material selection and usefulness of digital tools.
