The Wood Explorer

Databases — By on November 5, 2009 at 14:36

It’s a wood database on the Internet, especially for those who work with wood and for those interested in forest species. To have total access to information, is available a CD with software and the database. The access to the database on the internet is free and gives a good deal of information on wood and forest resources.

The mission of this software and database is to promote economic and social role of an important natural resource, encouraging responsible management of all natural resources, with special emphasis on wood.
The Wood Explorer has become an information center for businessmen, workers, researchers and marketers of wood. The information contained in this software equates to a survey of more than 1.000 books on the subject, also containing images of wood and the trees.

This is one of three websites that are meant to complement each other to offer information on woods around the world, a directory of companies that make or offer wood, things made of wood and things that, while not being wood, are related to wood, and a third website where all these things can be bought and sold:

The Wood Explorer.com – a large knowledge based Wood site.
The Wood Market.com – A large directory of the Wood industry internationally
The Wood Exchange.com – where Wood and wood related products can be bought and sold.

If you are looking up information about an interesting wood in The Wood Explorer.com and wonder if there is a place where you can buy that wood, there is an icon that will start a search for all companies advertising with the website and offer that wood to either The Wood Market.com or The Wood Exchange.com. If you are browsing casually and do not wish to buy immediately, The Wood Market.com is a good choice. If you are ready to buy and wish to see what stock and prices companies have, go to The Wood Exchange.com.

Method of use: To have total access to information, is available a CD with software and database, which costs from €29.95 to €99.95, depending on the software version. Anyway, on the internet, The Wood Explorer database is free and gives access to a good deal of information on wood and forest resources.

Materials in the database: Now covering 5.000 wood species and counting.
