Selectingmaterials is a place where we will analyse  digital tools for material selection. We also want to study the history and other aspects of material selection.

The website and the research is being done by Pedro Ramalhete. He holds M.A. in Design, Materials and Product Management at the University of Aveiro.

He carried out a research during his Masters studies on design and materials selection and studied the relations of selection methods within the design process. He analysed the current digital tools for materials selection and how they work. Questions regarding the evolution of materials selection and its connection to the design also deserved special attention.

Later he has built an information platform, materialized through a spreadsheet with many and complete information about software and databases for material selection.

Since 2007, he has been undertaking efforts to research about a new methodology for material selection and usefulness of the digital tools.

The research is being developed at DeCA of the University of Aveiro (UA).
